About this course

The course covers quantitative methods that can be used to solve problems within transport planning and transport modelling. The course focuses on statistical methods, especially regression and discrete choice models. Other methods that are covered are iterative proportional fitting, gravitation models, and simulation.

Learning outcomes

The purpose of the course is to give students a comprehensive introduction to the field of transport planning and demand modelling as well as experience in using various modelling approaches to analyse transport systems. In addition, the course focuses on giving the students an understanding of the role of modelling and sustainability in the planning and evaluation of transport and infrastructure investments. Finally, the course gives students tools to analyse transport data and support decision making on mobility.

Activities

Lectures and exercise classes, reading the literature, and problem solving.
