About this course
To provide a basic understanding of electricity and the main related calculation principles. The students are introduced to the electricity grid and the main components involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. Moreover, principles calculations in simple networks are covered.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the learner will be able to: Identify key relationships in the electricity supply grid Calculate the electrical quantities of 3-phase electrical network Apply electrical components equivalents Model transformers with appropriate equivalents Model the overhead lines with appropriate equivalent Model the cables with appropriate equivalents Calculate the voltage and current in simple networks Analyse given load conditions Apply the per-unit principle Introduction to nummerical methods for solving electrical systems.
