About this course
The course has two goals. First of all, the special course is a classical research seminar that addresses various topics related to technology governance, which can be a potential input for student master's thesis. Secondly, a number of internationally recognized visiting lecturers from different technology governance or digital transformation sub-domains participate in the seminar. More specific topics to be discussed at the seminar and the background of visiting lecturers will vary from year to year.
NB! This course will take place in spring semester 2024/2025 which starts on 3rd of February and ends on 16th of June (you can find that information under Start date section). The real course start and end dates will be announced at the beginning of February at the latest.
Learning outcomes
After successfully passing the subject the student:
- explains the thematic areas covered in lectures / seminars on technology governance, that is, the most important developments and their backgrounds at the global and local levels;
- is able to express opinions on the thematic areas of lectures / seminars and to make assessments, including analyze and contribute to topics related to technology governance;
- has an overview of the most important aspects of research in relation to technology governance and digital transformation;
- is able to defend his/her views both in writing and orally, and to oppose to criticism;
- adequately assesses the applicability of different scientific methods to address the research challenges of different areas of technology governance;
- has an overview of current research issues and topics, theoretical discussions, methodological issues, and general academic discourse on technology governance.
Examination
Final assessment can consist of one test/assignment or several smaller assignments completed during the whole course. After declaring a course the student can re-sit the exam/assessment once. Assessment can be graded or non-graded. For specific information about the assessment process please get in touch with the contact person of this course.
