About this course

The concept of autonomous vehicles and application fields. Requirements for infrastructure in different environments (public room, traffic, closed areas, industry, inside and outside conditions). Legal aspects and laws in different environments. Social aspects. Platforms and technologies of autonomous vehicles. Sub-systems and communication. Selection of sub-systems and design of autonomous vehicle. Development of autonomous vehicle as a member of team.

NB! This course will take place in spring semester 2024/2025 which starts on 3rd of February and ends on 16th of June (you can find that information under Start date section). The real course start and end dates will be announced at the beginning of February at the latest.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course the student:

  • knows the concept and application fields of autonomous vehicles;
  • knows the required infrastructure and social-legal environment;
  • is able to design a concept of autonomous vehicle on the level of sub-systems;
  • has a practical experience of developing an autonomous vehicle as a part of team.

Examination

Final assessment can consist of one test/assignment or several smaller assignments completed during the whole course. After declaring a course the student can re-sit the exam/assessment once. Course requirements

Programming in Python at basic level, Familiar with Linux environment, access to Ubuntu powered computer (min CPU 8 cores, 16GB RAM) with admin rights (must be able to run docker container in it).

The prerequisite of the grade is a positive evaluation of course modules and presentation of practical solutions with required documentation.
